CLC YMCA GYMNASTICS TEAMS FLY HIGH AT STATE MEET

Bath -
On April 24th and 25th the Central Lincoln County YMCA gymnastics team under the direction of coach Janice Cormier-Hay and Betsy Lee took their team to compete at the YMCA Maine State Gymnastics meet. They competed against all nine of the YMCA gymnastic teams from Maine: host team Bath YMCA, Bangor, Lewiston-Auburn, Down East YMCA’s team from Ellsworth, Oxford Hills, Greater Rumford, Old Town Orno and Waterville. The team had many outstanding performances and showed great focus, skill, strength, sportsmanship and beauty as they executed their vault, uneven bars, beam and floor exercise routines.

Coach Janice is extremely proud of her team. The CLC Level 4 team placed 3rd in the state, Level 5 team placed 3rd in the state and the Advance Prep Op placed 2nd in the state.

CLC has two all around Maine state Champions in Megan Gallagher, Level 5 of Camden and Whitney Dow, Level 4 of Waldoboro.

Individual highlights of accomplishment: Kristen Cavanaugh, Advanced prep op is Maine state champion in vault; The senior member of the team and headed to University of Maine, Orno is Kiley Bickford, at Advanced pre op, is Maine State champion on the beam; Megan Gallagher, Level 5, is Maine State champion in the bars, beam and floor; Emma Downing, Level 4 is Maine State Champion on the floor; Madeline York, Level 4, is Maine State champion on the vault; and Whitney Dow, Level 4 is Maine State champion in the bars, beam and floor.
Advanced Pre-Op, Age 14-15: In only her second meet at the advanced prep-op level, Kristen Cavanaugh came in 1st on the vault with an 8.4, 3rd on the bars with a 7.9, third on the beam with a 6.9 and 2nd on the floor with a 7.45, placing 2nd all around in the state of Maine.

Advanced Pre-Op, Age 16-18: Kiley Bickford came in 2nd on vault with an 8.2, 2nd on bars with a 7.4, 1st on beam with a 9.0 and 2nd on floor with an 8.4, placing 2nd all around in the state of Maine and completing a wonderful 9 year career on Janice’s team.

Level 5, Age 10:
Meghan Gallagher came in 2nd on vault with a 8.4, 1st on bars with a 8.55, 1st on beam with an 9.35, 1st on floor with an 9.4 and placed 1st all around in the state of Maine. Marta Denny came in 5th on vault with an 8.25, 3rd on bars with a 7.25, 2nd on beam with an 9.125, 3rd on floor with an 8.95, placing 2nd all around  in the state of Maine.

Level 5 Age 11:
Catherine Roy came in 6th on vault with an 8.2, tied for 5th on bars with a 7.4, 3rd on beam with an 8.725, 1st on floor with a 9.05, placing 5th all around in the state.

Level 5 Age 12-14:
In a large pool of gymnasts, Kate Kelley came in 9th on vault with an 8.1, 10th on bars, 7th on beam with an 8.0, 6th on floor with a 8.5, placing 11th all around in the state.

At Level 4, Age 6-7: In her first state meet, Emily Kelsey placed 4th on vault with an 8.775, tied for 6th on bars with a 6.9, 6th on beam with a 8.05, 6th on floor with 6.65 and placed 9th all around in Maine.

Level 4, Age 8
: This level age group had the most competitors. Emma Downing came in 4th on vault with an 8.95, came in 10th on bars with a 7.9, 2nd on beam with a 9.325 and 1st on floor with a 9.225, placing 4th overall. In her first state meet, Macallister Moss tied for  3rd on vault with an 9.1, tied for 7th on the bars with a 8.3, tied for 7th on beam with a 8.85, placed 3rd on floor with a 9.125, placing 5th overall.  Emma Hall came in 7th on vault with a 8.85, 5th on bars with a 8.6, 3rd on beam with a 9.3, came in 10th on floor with a 8.6, placing 5th overall. These three teammates finished just .025 between each all around score.

Level, Age 9 and older: Kathryn Colomb came in 8th on vault with a 8.55, 4th on bars with an 8.15, 6th on beam with a 8.25, 3rd on floor with a 8.925, placing 3rd all around in the state of Maine.

Level, Age 9 and younger: Madeline York came in 1st on vault with a 9.0, 3rd on bars with a 8.45, tied for 5th on beam with an 8.65, 7th on floor with a 8.675, placing 4th all around. Alison York came in 6th on vault with an 8.8, 7th on bars with a 8.05, 6th on beam with an 8.5, 4th on floor with an 8.95, placing 5th all around in the state.

Level 4, Age 10-13:
In her first state meet, Whitney Dow came in 2nd on the vault with an 8.9, 1st on bars with a 8.7, 1st on beam with a 9.1, 1st on floor with a 8.775, placing 1st all around. Kylie Farnham came in 5th on vault with an 8.7, 5th on bars with a 8.375, 6th on beam with a 8.25, 4th on floor with a 8.675, placing 3rd all around and which qualifies for the New England Regional Meet in New Hampshire.

The final meet of the season will be on May 15th and 16th. The New England Regional meet in Manchester, New Hampshire where 40 YMCA gymnastics teams will compete from 7 states (Maine, NH, NY, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts).
